Growth Pains that Come with Success

Growth pains happen to us all and it is actually part and parcel of making progress. 

The similitude is just as children you go through physical growth pains, as adults in your personal and professional development you’ll experience discomfort and anxiety.

For example, an exercise  workout can result in soreness, tension, and muscle aches. It doesn’t last forever, however the results can be really positive, like muscle tone, strength, heart health and even helps to create your mood. 

That’s one of the many reasons why we shouldn’t allow growth pains to stop us from pursuing our goals.

With personal growth, the pain is slightly different because it comes with emotional highs and lows. This may look like emotional excitement, vulnerability, shyness, or maybe even calm confidence at times. 

These highs and lows are all normal even the best of leaders and public speakers out there experience it or even struggle with it. 

However, you should know with certainty that the negative feelings can be resolved. In the Science of the Nafs, we offer many solutions to resolve these challenges.

The problem arises when people look for quick fixes to get rid of the emotions they feel from growth pains. In today’s society, there’s an enormous increase and trend in psychedelic substance use because people are trying to  get rid of negative emotions. 

When we look at how Allah (swt) created and designed us, we see that it is in our makeup that we will be in a continuous state of growth. 

The key to embracing the discomfort is in the Tarbiyah and nurturing process. Through this process, we nurture our well-being and strengthen our minds and emotions. 

Embracing discomfort is a prerequisite to growing exponentially.

I have many examples, which I can share from my own personal experience where I had to break out of my comfort zone in order to create powerful change. 

All it takes on our part is the willingness to not just cope in life, but to flourish and grow beyond our imagination. 

In the Science of the Nafs, we reinforce this growth and offer a Roadmap that leads you to create a future of purpose and positivity, and true fulfilment. 

Allah (swt) tells us,

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ

“You are the best people ever raised for humanity.”

You’re the best of the people. You cannot be that person, except that you have to develop into it. 

In the Science of the Nafs journey, we learn that growth is continuous. It’s not a destination you arrive at. 

Growth is what we love, and we embrace it. We truly create our lives through the lens of it.
