The Seeds for Growth & Development in Life

I want you to visualise what you focus on as a fertiliser. A potent fertiliser that nourishes.

As I’m sure you’re aware, we place the fertiliser on areas of our garden you want to growth.

You then plant the seeds, water them, and attend to them regularly.

As you water your seeds in the coming days, you can’t see it growing.

In fact, most of the time, you’re not going to even see it for months, until it actually starts to sprout.

Remember, that the fertiliser here is your “attention.” What you focus on is the potent fertiliser that nourishes either your achievements or struggles.

So, if in some areas you’ve got some unwanted growth, some bad stuff in your life. These mental weeds of your mind become the weeds of your life, wrapping around all areas of your life, smothering growth.

If you place all of your attention on those places, they begin to grow and multiple.

Even if it’s not real in the present moment. However, you place your attention on the bad memories, the bad experiences you’ve had, then it’s going to grow.

These weeds of your mind will start to grow until it consumes up all the real estate in your mind. And when this happens all you’ll see will be the weeds of those memories.

But the good news is, if you find a patch of flowers, the flowers of your mind, the beautiful experiences of your mind, the good memories your mind has stored away, and you pour the fertiliser onto that area, then the flowers begin to blossom.

The memories start to blossom and take over the weedy, clogged up areas of your mind.

Whatever areas you choose to focus on; your relationships with your children, your relationship with your parents, your siblings, your health, your wealth, whatever blessing that you focus on, will be what your mind consumes.

The more you focus on that area with intent, the more fertiliser you pour on it, the more grateful you become.

The more grateful you become, the more gratitude you show to your Lord, the more He, (swt) gives you.

And before you know it, the site which was once covered with the weeds of your mind, is now blossoming with the blessings in your life.

Remember when we talk about mind in the Science of the Nafs, we’re also talking about the heart as there’s a direct correlation between the two.

When your heart is full of beauty, acceptance, and gratitude, then you become connected to Allah (swt).

The most liberating aspect of this process is that you come to the realisation that you are in control.

You decide where to focus and what to nurture.

Most people don’t even realise that they’re the ones in charge of where they place their attention and focus their mind’s on.

This is why Allah (swt) says, ‘There is no compulsion.’

Negative thoughts and challenges no doubt will persist in life, but your control lies in choosing where to place your attention.

Remember, you decide where to pour the fertiliser. Focusing on growth, gratitude, and positivity, you create a life rich in blessings, joy, and fulfillment inshaAllah.

So, act action right now. Get practising, doing this every day for the next 30 days. You have to take the steps.

Do it for 30 days and see how you feel, see how your life shapes out.

Apply this principle consistently, and you’ll see your life flourishing in ways you never imagined Insha’Allah.
